India will have an opportunity to secure their first T20I series victory under Shreyas Iyer’s captaincy when they face Zimbabwe in the second T20I at the Harare Sports Club.

After a difficult run in Ireland and England, India finally returned to winning ways with a convincing performance in the series opener. The young pace attack made excellent use of the conditions before the batters completed a comfortable chase.

Zimbabwe, meanwhile, will know they need a much stronger batting performance to keep the three-match series alive.

Mayank Yadav Could Trouble Zimbabwe Again

Mayank Yadav was one of India’s biggest positives from the opening match.

Playing his first international game after a lengthy absence, Mayank used his extra pace and the bounce available in Harare to put Zimbabwe’s top order under immediate pressure.

He was well supported by Ashok Sharma and Prince Yadav, giving India an inexperienced but exciting pace combination.

If similar assistance is available in the second T20I, Zimbabwe’s batters will once again have to find a way of surviving India’s new-ball attack.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi Gets Another Big Opportunity

The first T20I also provided Vaibhav Sooryavanshi with his first major breakthrough at senior international level.

After a difficult start to his T20I career in England, the youngster looked far more comfortable in Harare and attacked Zimbabwe’s bowlers from the beginning.

With India likely to give him an extended run in the series, another strong performance could significantly strengthen his case for a regular position in the T20I setup.

Zimbabwe Need More from Top Order

Zimbabwe recovered reasonably well after losing early wickets in the opening match, but their top-order collapse left them with too much work to do.

Tadiwanashe Marumani and Wessly Madhevere showed some resistance and helped the hosts reach a respectable total.

Captain Sikandar Raza will now want contributions from the rest of the batting order, particularly if Zimbabwe are asked to bat first again.

Harare Pitch and Conditions

Scoring freely has traditionally not been straightforward at the Harare Sports Club.

The new ball can offer seam movement and additional bounce, particularly when there is moisture in the surface. Zimbabwe’s quick bowlers Richard Ngarava and Blessing Muzarabani could therefore pose a significant threat with their hard lengths.

As the pitch settles, however, batting could become easier, making the toss an important factor once again.

Zimbabwe vs India 2nd T20I Match Details

Match: Zimbabwe vs India, 2nd T20I
Venue: Harare Sports Club, Harare
Date: July 24, 2026
Time: 1:00 PM Local / 4:30 PM IST

Zimbabwe Probable XI

Brian Bennett, Ben Curran, Dion Myers, Sikandar Raza (c), Ryan Burl, Wessly Madhevere, Tadiwanashe Marumani, Brad Evans, Newman Nyamhuri, Richard Ngarava, Blessing Muzarabani.

Innocent Kaia has joined the squad but is unlikely to break into the playing XI immediately.

India Probable XI

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, Abhishek Sharma, Ishan Kishan, Shreyas Iyer (c), Tilak Varma, Shivam Dube, Rinku Singh, Ravi Bishnoi, Prince Yadav, Ashok Sharma, Mayank Yadav.

India have several options on the bench, but after such a convincing opening victory, the team management may prefer to stick with the winning combination.

Players Closing in on Milestones

Ishan Kishan needs just two more runs to reach 1,500 T20I runs for India.

Fielding has also been a major strength for India’s middle order. Among Indian players with more than five T20I appearances, Rinku Singh and Tilak Varma are among the leading players in catches per match.

Ravi Bishnoi Working on No-Ball Issue

India interim bowling coach Sunil Joshi has also provided an update on Ravi Bishnoi following his difficult England series.

Rather than making a major change to his bowling action, Bishnoi has worked on realigning his run-up. The Indian coaching staff have been encouraged by the results and believe the adjustment has helped address his recent no-ball problems.

Can Zimbabwe Keep the Series Alive?

India enter the second match with momentum, but Zimbabwe will hope more balanced conditions can give them an opportunity to fight back.

For Shreyas Iyer, victory would carry additional significance. After a challenging beginning to his captaincy stint, India now stand just one win away from sealing their first T20I series under his leadership.

Zimbabwe have no such margin for error. A defeat would settle the series with one match remaining.
